How to cancel a task instance when a timer fires in jBPM?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

We are using jBPM to orchestrate services.

The process contains a Task Node, with a Task and a Timer, such as:

<task-node name="task-node1">
  <task name="doSomething">
    <assignment actor-id="admin"/>
  </task>
  <timer name="too_late"
    duedate="1 business hour"
    transition="to_cancel"
  />
  <transition to="cancel-node" name="to_cancel"/>
</task-node>

When the timer fires, the task should be ended automatically. How can this be done?

Environment

  • jBPM 3.2.x
  • JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform (SOA-P)
    • 4.3
