Why has CPU scaling in Xen hosts stopped working in RHEL5.8?
Issue
- 'cpuspeed' service fails to start:
# service cpuspeed start
# ps -ef | grep cpuspeed | grep -v grep
#
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8.
- kernel-xen versions from 2.6.18-308.el5 to 2.6.18-308.13.1.el5 included.
- Xen virtualization host.
