glibc backtrace() regression in RHEL6

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The backtrace(3) man page contains an example program which illustrates backtrace() usage, resp. how the stacktrace grows with higher recursion levels. The example is not working correctly on RHEL6. It doesn't print the thole stacktrace if we choose range >= 3, it always prints only four frames. On RHEL4 and RHEL5, it prints increasingly-long stacktraces.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • glibc-2.12-1.80.el6_3.6
