Why does the command 'mount -av' report "nothing was mounted" for external filesystems such as GFS2 and NFS even though it does mount them?

Issue

  • When using /etc/fstab to mount external filesystems such as GFS2 or NFS, the command:
 # mount -av

returns a value of "nothing was mounted", even though the external filesystem is mounted.
