Application servers in domain mode are using JRE instead of JDK.

Issue

  • We recently have upgraded our environment to java version "1.8.0_51" and JBoss EAP 6.4.6. here is the java version:
[root@uk-jbappq-001 23520]# java -version
java version "1.8.0_51"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_51-b16)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.51-b03, mixed mode)

If I check the host controller process, its using JDK. But when I check any application server in that domain, its using JRE. Am not sure where its picking the JRE and what will be the impact. What is the cause of this?
