CUPS error "too many open files" in RHEL

Issue

There were printing problems. Based on the CUPS logs it is due to large number of open files the printing stopped.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.4.2
