Cinder writes unexpectedly to "/var/log/messages"

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We deactivated the use of syslog in /etc/cinder/cinder.conf (use_syslog=False) on the controller nodes but we notice that cinder-api and cinder-volume are still logging to /var/log/messages
[root@tng1-nfv01-cont1008 ~]# tail -f /var/log/messages | grep cinder
cinder-volume: 2016-02-05 14:47:14.503 14278 INFO cinder.volume.manager [-] Updating volume status
cinder-volume: 2016-02-05 14:47:14.513 14278 INFO cinder.brick.remotefs.remotefs [-] Already mounted: /var/lib/cinder/mnt/bd81dddd9ca24fe274927fcaa4ad2dad
cinder-volume: 2016-02-05 14:47:14.628 14278 INFO cinder.volume.manager [-] Updating volume replication status.
