Live merge fails with "Failed to live merge, still in volume chain"

Issue

  • A Live Merge (snapshot deletion) failed indicating that one of volumes still existed in the chain.

  • engine log extract;

  • The vdsm logs on the host on which the VM was running show that the merge seemed to complete with errors, but the resultant volume chain was the same as it was prior to the merge.

  • There were no indications of any error in the messages logged for libvirtd or qemu.
