RHEL: why does a remote IP address only respond when an alias is configured?
Issue
- we are unable to ping destination IP with 2nd IP configured on interface, while the primary IP is ping fine with destination source.
- Only after we add an alias on the same subnet can we ping the remote host.

- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- IP routing
