Why does 'su - oracle' command fail with error "su: cannot set user id: Resource temporarily unavailable"?
Issue
- `su - oracle' fails with following error message.
su: cannot set user id: Resource temporarily unavailable
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- Oracle RAC10gR2 or 11g
/etc/security/limits.confas follows or similar to:
* soft nproc 2047 * hard nproc 16384 * soft nofile 1024 * hard nofile 65536 * soft stack 10240 * hard stack 32768
