Oracle Database configured to use encryption wallet fails to start with error "ORA-28365: wallet is not open" in RHEL 6 or 7 High Availability cluster with pacemaker

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • After adding pcs resources to manage an Oracle Database SID, the database no longer auto-opens the wallet to decrypt the tablespace, and external connection attempts fail
  • I can't start an Oracle Database in a pacemaker cluster if it uses an encryption wallet
  • Starting Oracle via the ocf:heartbeat:oracle resource results in an error opening the wallet
ORA-28365: wallet is not open

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 or 7 with the High Availability Add-On
  • pacemaker
  • One or more ocf:heartbeat:oracle resources configured in the CIB
    • At least one such resource is configured to use an encryption wallet
