What are the fields in /etc/sysconfig/iptables following the chains?

Issue

  • I am comparing my save iptables in /etc/sysconfig/iptables and current one (saved with iptables-save > file) before restarting the iptables service. I see a difference in some numbers.
  • I'm trying to understand what the fields in brackets after the chains mean:
[root@localhost ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/iptables
# Generated by iptables-save v1.4.7 on Mon Mar 14 19:31:57 2016
*filter
:INPUT ACCEPT [159730133:174382789689]
:FORWARD ACCEPT [0:0]
:OUTPUT ACCEPT [211607871:147330967957]
COMMIT
# Completed on Mon Mar 14 19:31:57 2016

Can these fields in the header be edited in the file /etc/sysconfig/iptables?
