Why does Satellite 6 create RHEV VM names with hyphens rather than dots?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • When I create a new Host in a RHEV Compute Resource, the name of the VM in RHEV ends up with hyphens rather than dots.
For example, if I create a Host named hosta in domain example.com, the name of the resulting RHEV VM is hosta-example-com rather than hosta.example.com.

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 6.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.1 or later.
