The cman service is not starting fenced or dlm_controld on start, and rgmanager subsequently fails to start with "failed acquiring lockspace: Success" in a RHEL 6 High Availability cluster

Issue

  • We migrated our VM cluster nodes to vSphere 5.5 from an older version, and now rgmanager fails to start silently. The only error we see is "failed acquiring lockspace: Success"

  • service cman start is not starting fenced, dlm_controld, or gfs_controld, and this results in other services not starting or operating correctly.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 with the High Availability Add On
