Modifying coalescing (adaptive-rx on) on ConnectX-4 VPI port in Ethernet causes Kernel panic

Issue

  • Using ethtool -C devname adaptive-rx on to a Mellanox ConnectX-4 card with no link can trigger NULL pointer dereference and panic the system.
  • mlx5e_set_coalesce() function attempts a null pointer dereference and triggers kernel panic in mlx5_core module.
