After ordering a reboot at the end of 'ipa-client-install --uninstall', why is my system not rebooting?

Issue

When running the ipa-client-install command with the --uninstall parameter the removal process finishes as expected. But when the script asks for reboot and the answer yes is given then the system fails to reboot.

Environment

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5
Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) providing services, hosted on RHEL6.3
