systemd in RHEL7 unmounted filesystem on multipath device when some paths lost

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • systemd in RHEL7 unmounted a filesystem when a multipath device lost some of its paths.

  • If all paths of multipath device failed, systemd unmounts the filesystem on that device.

  • During storage controller reboot testing, half the paths to a multipath-backed filesystem mount are being added and removed, systemd attempts to unmount the filesystem, even though there are remaining active paths.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
    • systemd-219-19.el7.x86_64
