Issue

  • attempt to access beyond end of device is seen on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 IBM System Z guest. The below messages are observed in the console and dmesg
  • The same messages are also seen on RHEL 7.2 installed on x86_64 platform:
attempt to access beyond end of device
  dasdd1: rw=0, want=1048576, limit=1048574
attempt to access beyond end of device
  dasdc1: rw=0, want=524288, limit=524286

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2
  • Not seen with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1
  • x86_64, IBM System Z / S390
