Gluster self heal is affecting performance, how can I fix this?

Issue

In glusterfs replication is handled by the replicate xlator which sits in the client process. Replicate takes care of healing the contents of the file among the replica copies whenever it finds all the replicas are not in sync. But sometimes self-healing might affect the application's i/o performance.
