The scsi_generic device driver does not create an /dev/sg* device for the multipath lun.

Issue

  • A pair of RHEL6.7 running Sybase ASE Cluster Edition 15.7 have san attached with a basic multipath configuration. IO Fencing needs to be configured for ASE however it requires the use of device files that are created with the scsi_generic driver. However the scsi_generic device driver does not create an /dev/sg* device for the multipath lun.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7
  • Sybase ASE Cluster Edition 15.7
  • Device-mapper multipath
  • I/O Fencing
