Filesystem partition is not mounting after updating /etc/fstab.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • /boot partition is not mounting and displaying below message --

Unit boot.mount is bound to inactive unit dev-mapper-mpathd1.device. Stopping, too.

  • When mount command is used to manually mount the affected filesystem then it completes without any error, but the filesystem still does not get mounted.

  • When modifying a previously existing fstab entry with a new device name, and leaving the mountpoint unchanged - systemd keeps trying to mount the previous fstab definition of the mount, ignoring the new setting.
