Why scp get "Received disconnect from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: 2: Corrupted MAC on input." message?

Issue

  • When using the scp command to copy a file larger than 100KB, error messages gives out and scp command failed.
  • "Received disconnect from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: 2: Corrupted MAC on input."
  • While doing scp getting below messages:
Dec 21 15:16:20 xxx sshd[xxx]: Corrupted MAC on input.
Dec 21 16:59:46 xxx sshd[xxx]: Corrupted MAC on input.
Dec 21 17:00:00 xxx sshd[xxx]: Corrupted MAC on input.
Dec 21 17:05:47 xxx sshd[xxx]: Corrupted MAC on input.
Dec 21 17:09:16 xxx sshd[xxx]: Corrupted MAC on input.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 5, 6
  • kernel-2.6.9-89.0.16 to 2.6.32-431.11.2
  • Known NIC drivers tg3, vmxnet
