How to attach Satellite server to custom channels ?

Issue

  • Satellite server is directly registered to RHN and receives two channels from RHN, i.e.
redhat-rhn-satellite-5.7-server-x86_64-6     Red Hat Satellite (v5.7 for Server v6 AMD64 / Intel64)  
rhel-x86_64-server-6                         Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (v. 6 for 64-bit x86_64)

  • Are there potentially any technical reasons why the Satellite server should not be subscribed to custom channels which it serves by itself? The custom channels contain specific rpms.

  • Need to update the Satellite server with the latest content of the custom channels.
