Missing monitor causes high CPU load in RHEL7.

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • If RHEL7 systems are running without monitor(headless setup) with Nvidia drivers provided by hardware vendor(HP), the Xorg process is causing high load on CPU.
  • The users are connecting to the server remotely via ssh. No user is working on local console of system. The system is configured to boot in runlevel5, but there is no monitor connected to the server.

  • How to stop Xorg from creating cpu load on system?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0
  • Nvidia drivers provided by HP
