How to Indexing on and off ?

Issue

The customer asked if it is possible to on/off the indexing of a cache.
It checked the document that JMX MassIndexer can be called for the indexing enabled=true caches.
As indexing enabled=true is required, below scenario can be possible to take?

1) In the infinispan-config.xml, set the cache as indexing enabled=true.
2) when they want to set OFF the indexing for the cache, set indexing enabled=false by code such as Rest interface.
3) when they want to set ON the indexing again, set indexing enabled=true by code then call MassIndexer.
