Do I need to change the volume_list in lvm.conf or remake the initramfs after adding a new shared device to a RHEL 6 or 7 High Availability cluster with pacemaker using HA-LVM?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • If we need to add subsequent HA-LVM /Filesystem resources, do we need to rebuild the initramfs boot image every time?
  • Do I need to update the volume_list in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf after I add a new shared volume to the cluster? Do I need to rebuild the initramfs?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 with the High Availability Add-On
  • pacemaker
  • HA-LVM
    • One or more ocf:heartbeat:LVM resources in the CIB with exclusive=true set.
    • volume_list set in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf to contain only local, non-shared volume groups
    • locking_type = 1 in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf
