Why is filesystem size not correct after extending my logical volume?

Issue

After adding 300G to a logical volume the size still shows 1.3T instead of 1.6T from the df output.

# df -h 
Filesystem                                    Size  Used    Avail 
/VolGroup00LogVol00                            1.3T   500G  800G
