How to make world writeable USB mount?

Issue

  • When logged into Gnome on RHEL6, USB sticks are mounted automatically when they are inserted.
  • The filesystem is mounted so that it is only readable by the logged in user.
  • Is there any way to change this so that automatically mounted USB sticks are readable by all users on the system?
  • How to mount usb disk under /media/diskname instead of /media/$USER/diskname ?
