jabberd on Satellite server is trying to connect to a Proxy that no longer exists

Environment

Issue

  • jabberd on Satellite is trying to connect to a Proxy that has been removed
  • After the Proxy software was removed from the old proxies, and the systems were deleted in Satellite, a restart of rhn-satellite causes the following errors in /var/log/messages:
Sep 18 00:59:12 satellite.example.com jabberd/resolver[12562]: [proxy.example.com] could not be resolved  
Sep 18 00:59:12 test jabberd/s2s[12564]: dns lookup for proxy.example.com failed  
  • Why does the Satellite try to connect to Proxy servers that have been uninstalled?

Resolution

  • Contact Red Hat support for the steps required to delete the old Proxy server information from the Satellite database.
