NetworkManager and the nmcli command return a 'symbol lookup error' for g_type_class_adjust_private_offset in RHEL 7.2

Issue

  • The NetworkManager service fails to start and NetworkManager tools such as nmcli return the following error:

    /usr/sbin/NetworkManager: symbol lookup error: /lib64/libgudev-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_type_class_adjust_private_offset
    
  • systemd reports the NetworkManager service has failed for trying to restart too quickly:

    # systemctl status NetworkManager -l
