Why is sssd not retrieving domain/LDAP group membership information for filtered local users?

Issue

  • I have option "ldap_rfc2307_fallback_to_local_users" of sssd set to true to allow local users to be members of LDAP defined groups.
  • I have local users listed in "filter_users" to avoid LDAP queries for those users.
  • Why is the group membership for those local users not being retrived from LDAP?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 or 7.
  • LDAP or other domain provider configured in sssd.
  • LDAP/domain group queries for local users allowed by "ldap_rfc2307_fallback_to_local_users = true"
  • Local users are members of LDAP/domain provided groups.
  • Local users filtered out by "filter_users".
