How to make the NFS mount disconnect by itself in seconds when the NFS server dies ?

Issue

  • It is known that when a NFS share is mount on a system, when the NFS server is hung and user try to access the share, it may cause system unresponsive.
  • Could you please explain behavior of autofs in this case?

    • If share is mount but user is not currently accessing the share.
    • If share is mount and user is currently accessing the share.
  • Is there any measure to lower the risk of using autofs to mount NFS?
