Smart State Analysis snapshot filling /tmp

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat CloudForms 3.2

Issue

  • When Smart State is run the snapshot can be several GB in size which goes to /tmp. This fills up / when deploying the default VMware CFME appliance. Is there an option to change where the Smart State snapshots are written to?

Resolution

  • The release of CloudForms 4.0 has a new option in the appliance_console to extend the temp storage by presenting a new disk to the virtual machine.

  • In the appliance_console select option 9 "Extend Temporary Storage" and this will allow the admin to provide any size disk to the vm for snapshot storage.
