Monitoring the availability singleton application with the JBoss ON

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

There is a singleton application available in a cluster environment, we are able to monitor with Apache which cluster node the application is responding (up). However, it can not be monitored with JBoss ON. The following tests have been performed:

  1. Deploy the singleton application to node-A/deploy-hasingleton & node-B/deploy-hasingleton directories: it works well since it is possible to identify which cluster node is providing the application. In other words, through the JBoss ON we can confirm that the singleton application is responding from the node-A.

  2. Deploy the singleton application to node-A/deploy & node-B/deploy directories making the configuration changes in the WEB-INF/jboss-web.xml file for the ear or war: it does not work when using the JBoss ON to check. The singleton application seems to be responding from all nodes.

So the issue is experienced just when using the configuration in the *.xml file for defining the singleton application.

  • Is this a behaviour expected ?
  • Or is there another way to monitor the availability singleton application with JBoss ON ?

Environment

  • JBoss Operations Network (JON) 3.0, 3.1
