Why is the "-n" option missing from iostat in RHEL7?

Issue

  • iostat command options in RHEL6 and RHEL7 are as follows:

  • [RHEL6]

# LANG=C iostat --help
Usage: iostat [ options ] [ <interval> [ <count> ] ]
Options are:
[ -c ] [ -d ] [ -N ] [ -n ] [ -h ] [ -k | -m ] [ -t ] [ -V ] [ -x ] [ -z ]
[ <device> [...] | ALL ] [ -p [ <device> [,...] | ALL ] ]
  • [RHEL7]
# LANG=C iostat --help
Usage: iostat [ options ] [ <interval> [ <count> ] ]
Options are:
[ -c ] [ -d ] [ -h ] [ -k | -m ] [ -N ] [ -t ] [ -V ] [ -x ] [ -y ] [ -z ]
[ -j { ID | LABEL | PATH | UUID | ... } ]
[ [ -T ] -g <group_name> ] [ -p [ <device> [,...] | ALL ] ]
[ <device> [...] | ALL ]

The "-n" option is no longer included in RHEL7.
