Cluster nodes were rebooted and cman service does not start because openais is started before cman in a RHEL 5 High Availability cluster

Issue

  • Nodes unable to join cluster after reboot
  • cman failed to start during cluster startup
  • The following messages appear in /var/log/messages during cman start up:

    openais[2473]: [MAIN ] ERROR: Could not bind AF_UNIX: Address already in use
    [...]
    openais[2473]: [MAIN ] ERROR: Could not accept Library connection: Invalid argument
    

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 with the High Availability Add On
  • openais chkconfig'd on on one or more nodes
