When booting to FIPS mode: modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting drbg

Issue

  • We are unable to unlock LUKS encrypted drives when in FIPS mode

  • When booting to FIPS mode, we see the following errors:

    modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting drbg (/lib/modules/<KERNEL VERSION/kernel/crypto/drbg.ko): Bad address
    device-mapper: reload ioctl on  failed: No such file or directory
    Failed to setup dm-crypt key mapping for device /dev/sda3.
    Check that kernel supports aes-xts-plain64 cipher (check syslog for more info).
    Failed to read from key storage.
