How to configure custom Hostname Verifier in CXF ?

Issue

Is there a way to create and set a custom host name verifier for CXF client connections. There is a setHostnameverifier method in org.apache.cxf.configuration.jsse.TLSClientParameters class but that is in CXF version 3.0 since FSW uses CXF2.8, we don't have access to that method. Is there another way?
