Issue

  • May you advise if it's possible to launch an instance with predefined ID ? Or , if there is some very unique piece of data can be sticked to the instance during the boot strap ?
  • Doing a nova list gives:
# nova list
+--------------------------------------+--------------------+--------+------------+-------------+------------------------+
| ID | Name | Status | Task State | Power State | Networks |
+--------------------------------------+--------------------+--------+------------+-------------+------------------------+
| f50f60a8-2fb7-43be-9916-63c8f7d11fe4 | anande | BUILD | spawning | NOSTATE | private=192.168.1.1 |
+--------------------------------------+--------------------+--------+------------+-------------+------------------------+
  • I'm talking about ID f50f60a8-2fb7-43be-9916-63c8f7d11fe4 in the above output.
  • We need to know something unique for a VM . Instance name is not relevant since you can launch as many VM with the same name as you want .
