When trying to cluster Tomcat in the Enterprise Web Server I'm receiving NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/catalina/tribes/MembershipListener

Issue

  • Uncommented cluster related entry in file EWS_HOME/tomcat6/conf/server.xml
    <Cluster className="org.apache.catalina.ha.tcp.SimpleTcpCluster"/>
  • Seeing the following error in EWS_HOME/tomcat6/logs/catalina.out
    org.apache.tomcat.util.digester.Digester startElement
SEVERE: Begin event threw error
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/catalina/tribes/MembershipListener
