What is Extended Life Cycle (ELS) for Red Hat Gluster Storage?

Red Hat Gluster Storage (RHGS) Extended Life Cycle Add-On Support (ELS) is an offering that provides an extension to the life cycle, allowing customers to continue to be supported on a specific major version of Red Hat Gluster Storage from the end of its regular cycle for an extended, defined period of time. We expect customers to be on RHGS 2.1.6 to qualify for the ELS offering.

On what versions is Red Hat Gluster Storage Extended Life Cycle Add-On Support available?

ELS is only available for Red Hat Gluster Storage 2.1 until October 31, 2016.

How is Extended Life-Cycle Support Add-On for RHGS packaged and sold?

ELS is an optional Add-On subscription that allows customers, for a fee, to extend their support one year at a time (in this case for a maximum of 1 year). ELS is only available as single year subscriptions - it is not possible to buy multiple years up front. A customer must already have paid for an existing Red Hat Gluster Storage subscription before purchasing the ELS Add-On subscription.

Is this a global offering?

Yes, the Extended Life Cycle Support (ELS) Add-On subscription is available worldwide. But there are some restrictions on the purchase of this Add-On. Please contact your Red Hat representative for details.

What does Extended Life Cycle Support provide during the extension period?

It provides customers access to official Red Hat support as well as delivery of selected urgent priority defect fixes and critical impact security fixes beyond the regular support period that would otherwise not be available. Support is provided in a reactive fashion in form of hot-fixes only (if needed). There is no separate maintenance stream for this offering. Without this offering, customers would only have access to previously released errata, documentation, and Kbase information.

Will there be a separate maintenance stream for ELS that customers will need to subscribe to?

No. Only hot-fixes are provided.

Is there a SKU for ELS subscriptions and is it available in Standard and Premium?

Yes, there a separate SKU for RHGS ELS subscription.

How can I order this SKU?

As mentioned above, the customer must already have paid for an existing Red Hat Gluster Storage subscription before purchasing the ELS Add-On subscription. The customer can then purchase the additional ELS add-on SKU using the normal purchase process. The ELS SKU CANNOT be purchased separately on its own.
