How can I correlate the virtual disk aliases in RHEV-M with the actual disks in a VM?

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • How can I correlate the virtual disk aliases in RHEV-M with the actual disks in a VM?

  • The "Disks" sub-tab of a VM shows the alias name for the disks attached to the VM (e.g. "vm1_Disk1", "vm1_Disk2", etc.)

  • How can I match the disk alias to the actual disk in the OS running in the VM? (e.g. "vm1_Disk1" is /dev/vda, "vm1_Disk2" is /dev/vdb, etc).

  • Currently removing a disk from a VM is error prone due to the inability to match the RHEV's disk alias to the actual disk in the VM.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.x.
