Network restart throws "Error: Unknown connection:" in RHEL6

Issue

Upon rebooting the server after upgrading the kernel and VMWare Tools for RHEL6.5, both network interfaces throw the following error:

Bringing up loopback interface [ok]
Bringing up interface eth0:  Error:  Unknown connection:  d41d8cd9-f2c3-67e1-9609-9800998ecf84. [FAILED]
Bringing up interface eth1:  Error:  Unknown connection:  d41d8cd9-f2c3-67e1-9609-9800998ecf84. [FAILED]
