Issue

  • How to configuretimed login for multiple displays in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5?
  • On display 0 (ctrl-alt-F7) there must be timed login as test user.
  • But on display 1 (ctrl-alt-F8) time login is not required.
  • How to set the timed login for display 0 ONLY and NOT on display 1?
  • In RHEL5.8 server with two displays enabled (0=Standard and 1=Standard) in the /etc/gdm/custom.conf file. On display 0 (ctrl-alt-F7) , need to have a timed login as user X, but on display 1 (ctrl-alt-F8) its not need. While logged into display 0 as root, run gdmsetup and enabled timed login for user X. When system is rebooted the RHEL5 server, display 0 comes up and performs a timed login as user X just like it's supposed to. However, display 1 tries to perform a timed login as well but there is no user listed so the login fails. It does not matter which display is chosen to set up the timed login, display 0 always works.

Environment
