What is the replacement for JSR-236 (Timer Manager) and JSR-237 (Work Manager) in JBoss EAP

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Our application uses jbosscommonj.sar (JBoss commonj implementation http://commonj.myfoo.de/) to create Timer & WorkManager. We understand that JSR 237 is not supported by JBoss because of some license issues. What is the recommended replacement for Timer Manager? I can use JCA's Worker manager, but i cannot find any replacement for Timer Manager.

  • I am working on an application migration from Weblogic to JBoss that use commonj-twm as implementation of commonj standard. The workManager and the timer manager are loaded by spring. I'd like to use the same implementation of commonj, using the microcontainer pojo deployer to initialize the necessary beans and give them a jndi name. Is it a correct approach or there is some supported alternative solution to have the same behavior?

  • We are migrating to JBoss EAP and were using the WebLogic CommonJ Framework or WebLogic Work Manager API, is there something similar in JBoss EAP ?

  • I think the WorkManager thread pool fits my needs - can I use the WorkManager in my application?

  • Alternatives for Weblogic WorkManager in JBoss EAP

  • the replacement for weblogic work manager for thread pool executor in JBoss EAP ?
