After reinstallation disk is not recognized as a LVM2 physical volume.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • After reinstallation old disk is not recognized as a LVM2 physical volume.
  • Resinstalled OS on /dev/sda and kept /dev/sdb as untouched. After installation /dev/sdb is not recognized as a LVM2 physical volume.
# pvscan --cache --activate ay /dev/sdb
the message is  
 “No PV label found on /dev/sdb”

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
    • lvm2
