Is it possible to configure dhcpd to not change the name servers entries in /etc/resolv.conf on the clients?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • If dhcpd server is configure to send name servers informations, dhcp client configure resolv.conf properly but if dhcp server is not configure to send name servers informations, dhcp client create empty resolv.conf file which is unexpected behaviour. Creating empty file override manual configured name servers entries which it shouldn't.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • dhcpd, dhclient, NetworkManger
