Cannot delete hardware stuck in discovery mode

Issue

When trying to delete hardware stuck in discovery mode, the following error message is displayed in /var/log/foreman-proxy/proxy.log:

 10.10.10.10 - - [01/Oct/2015 16:40:09] "DELETE /puppet/ca/hostname01.domain.com HTTP/1.1" 404 75 1.0534

This specific node cannot be deleted
