Packages listed in an activation key are installed after running `rhnreg_ks` in Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Issue

  • After kickstarting a Red Hat Enterprise Linux host, no packages specified in the activation key are installed;
  • When registering a system using an activation key, the packages specified in the activation key are not installed.
  • Various errors are displayed such as:
    • From rhn_check -vvvvv:
   D: Sending back response(32, 'Failed: Packages failed to install properly: No package(s) available to install', {'version': '1', 'name': 'package_install_failure'})
  • The 'Recently Scheduled Actions' section of the Red Hat Network Satellite overview shows a failed 'Activation Key Package Auto-Install' with the message:
   Failed: Packages failed to install properly: No package(s) available to install
