JBoss drops connections and re-connects to database very often

Issue

Min-pool-size is set to be the same as the number of max-pool-size. So why does the idleremover make a disconnection when the number of connections in the pool should remain constant.
JBoss does not appear to be re-using connections, and is constantly re-connecting to the database. How do I get JBoss to re-use connections?
